Get involved

We have a steady stream of volunteers who are coming to Gaunshahar to help us realise our vision and assist with the building and running of the school and the village but there's always room for more!

We provide a homestay in the heart of the village enabling volunteers to become immersed in the Nepali way of life as well as be involved in the school. Whether you’ve a specific skill set you can offer or merely share our enthusiasm to make a change in a rural community, we’d love to hear from you!

If you are interested in being part of this please visit HelpX and Workaway websites to make it happen.

Volunteer English Teacher

We are looking for newly qualified or experienced teachers to volunteer their time and expertise with the school and Nepalese teachers. You would stay in the same homestay as the volunteers, though your work would be solely at the school, and so experience rural Nepali teaching life first-hand among some of the most beautiful scenery in the world!

We would ask you to lead the English language and grammar lessons and provide weekly teacher training sessions for the local teachers on anything you would feel might improve the school. You would be a valuable asset to the school and whether you are newly qualified or have several years experience, teaching at Heaven Hill Academy is a wonderful opportunity to learn in a low-resource environment or refine the skills you already have!

If you have any questions or would like more information please email Shamser at or

Make a donation

One of the most important parts of our vision for Heaven Hill Academy is the ability to offer quality education free of charge to those children who would not otherwise have access to it. We are dependent on donations to fund the building, teaching resources and ongoing running costs (teaching materials, wages, electricity, etc.) of the school.

100% of all donations received will go directly into providing a child’s free education with nothing taken for any administration costs. We understand the need for transparency when donating to charitable causes, therefore should you wish to donate to the project, we urge you to get in touch and we’ll tell you how your donation, however big or small, will be spent.

Sending school supplies

We realise many people prefer to send school materials by airmail/courier than donating money. Whilst any donations of supplies are greatly received, it’s unfortunate that in Nepal the customs charges to have parcels greater than 2kg released from the depot in Kathmandu are extremely high, meaning we have to channel much needed money into releasing them.

Should you wish to send supplies directly, please get in touch and we may be able to put you in contact with someone from your country who is coming to volunteer and could bring any items. Alternatively, if there are specific items you wish to donate, we can source them here in Nepal and purchase using your kind donation.
